Candied Walnuts

Walnuts are good source of health benefiting nutrients such as minerals, antioxidants, vitamins and omega-3. These candied walnuts would be a  perfect snack for us all.

Candied Walnuts
2 cups whole walnuts
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Oil for deep frying

In a sauce pan, add the walnuts, sugar and water, and bring them to a boil.

Cook over medium heat for about 12 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half.

By using a netted ladle, separate the walnuts from liquid. Then deep-fry in the oil at 325F until golden. (It literally takes a few seconds, so please be sure to keep an eye on it.)

Spread out the walnuts in a Silpat or parchment-lined sheet. Separate them from each other by using two folks and let cool completely.

Keep in an airtight container.
