Candied Walnuts
Walnuts are good source of health benefiting nutrients such as minerals, antioxidants, vitamins and omega-3. These candied walnuts would be a perfect snack for us all.
Candied Walnuts
Ingredients:
2 cups whole walnuts
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Oil for deep frying
Directions:
In a sauce pan, add the walnuts, sugar and water, and bring them to a boil.
Cook over medium heat for about 12 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half.
By using a netted ladle, separate the walnuts from liquid. Then deep-fry in the oil at 325F until golden. (It literally takes a few seconds, so please be sure to keep an eye on it.)
Spread out the walnuts in a Silpat or parchment-lined sheet. Separate them from each other by using two folks and let cool completely.
Keep in an airtight container.
